Central and Northeast Missouri Earthquake Summit

To be held in Sept. 10, 2025, sponsored by the Audrain County Health Department, the Central and Northeast Missouri Earthquake Summit is an educational event for first responders, elected officials, municipal officials, and emergency management directors. Its focus is on understanding the real, though often overlooked, earthquake risk in our region and how to prepare for potential impacts.

Located just 269 miles from the New Madrid Seismic Zone, communities in central and northeast Missouri could experience significant effects if a large-scale earthquake occurs. The summit addresses response strategies, coordination among agencies, and the importance of proactive planning to reduce risk.

This initiative supports one of the Audrain County Health Department’s three core goals — to protect residents from harm — by fostering knowledge and preparedness among those responsible for community safety.
