Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

The Audrain County Health Department is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all visitors, including individuals with disabilities. We recognize that digital accessibility is both a legal obligation and a responsibility to the communities we serve. We are actively working to bring our website into conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Current Conformance Status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some content does not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard. We have engaged an accessibility consultant to conduct a formal audit and implement the necessary corrections.

Remediation Efforts Underway

We are actively addressing identified accessibility barriers. Ongoing and planned remediation efforts include:

  • Correcting color contrast ratios throughout the site to meet minimum WCAG thresholds

  • Ensuring all images include meaningful alternative text descriptions

  • Improving keyboard navigation and focus indicators for all interactive elements

  • Reviewing and correcting the heading structure and document landmark regions

  • Ensuring all form fields include properly associated labels

  • Reviewing third-party embedded content for accessibility compliance

We expect to complete our primary remediation by March 27, 2026, and will update this statement to reflect our progress.

Known Limitations

While we are working diligently toward full compliance, some areas of the site may still present accessibility challenges. If you encounter a barrier that prevents you from accessing any content or feature, please contact us using the information below, and we will work to provide the information in an alternative format promptly.

Technical Specifications
