Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

The Audrain County Health Department is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all visitors, including individuals with disabilities. We recognize that digital accessibility is both a legal obligation and a responsibility to the communities we serve. We are actively working to bring our website into conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Current Conformance Status

This website is designed to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The audited pages demonstrated conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria as evaluated during this assessment. We are not aware of any outstanding accessibility barriers as of 4/22/2026. Our website will undergo an annual audit in April 2027 to ensure compliance to the greatest degree possible.

Remediation Efforts Underway

We are actively addressing identified accessibility barriers. Ongoing and planned remediation efforts include:

  • Ensuring color contrast ratios throughout the site to meet minimum WCAG thresholds

  • Ensuring all images include meaningful alternative text descriptions

  • Improving keyboard navigation and focus indicators for all interactive elements

  • Reviewing and correcting the heading structure and document landmark regions

  • Ensuring all form fields include properly associated labels

  • Reviewing third-party embedded content for accessibility compliance

Primary remediation was completed on April 22, 2026; any remaining remediation will be updated on this statement as appropriate.

Known Limitations

While we are working diligently toward full compliance, some areas of the site may still present accessibility challenges. If you encounter a barrier that prevents you from accessing any content or feature, please contact us using the information below, and we will promptly provide the information in an alternative format.

  • Links within the podcast tool where an element is in tab order but lacks accessible text. This issue has been addressed with BuzzSprout for remediation.

Technical Specifications

This website relies on the following technologies to meet WCAG 2.1 AA: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We test for accessibility using a combination of automated scanning tools and manual review with assistive technologies, including screen readers.
