variety of services to protect the health of the community
Environmental Public Health Specialists (ESHS) provide a variety of services that include inspections of food establishments, residential onsite sewage systems/sewage permits through the Audrain County On-Site Sewage Ordinance, lodging establishment inspections, daycare licensure, temporary food permits, food recalls, and environmental issues/complaints. Consultation is also provided for general environmental health and/or sanitation concerns.
Some services may be accompanied by a fee, such as sewage permits, which are a $200.00 one-time fee, and temporary food permits, which are $10.00 for a one-time permit or $60.00 for a yearly permit.
Water sample testing is available for bacteriology private water, which has a $10.00 fee through the lab. A new well series water sample is free but an EPHS personnel are required to collect the sample.
